Several months ago I had the distinct honor of photographing a very special event that was just featured in City View. This was so interesting to shoot mostly because I had NO clue about what an arangetram was, or just how beautiful and significant it would be. And what, you might be wondering IS an arangetram... well, is a 2 hour solo, a coming-of-age ritual dance within the Indian culture (for more details feel free to click here). Family and friends flew in from India, there were caterers, make-up artists, a live orchestra, photographers and videographers, and months of preparation involved. More than anything I walked away from being a part of this experience simply humbled to be allowed such an intimate perspective on this type of an event, and thankful to have witnessed something so exquisite and culturally unique.
