Hello and welcome. I'm a lifestyle/editorial photographer now based in Bethesda MD. My goal is to capture the beauty of life as you know it. My passion is to create images that celebrate life and emotion with a fresh and modern style. I'm happy to share my journey with you here on my site.

Available for travel assignments and adventure, always.

The end of February is here. March is peeking around the corner, and at this very moment I am sitting outside, sipping coffee and punching away at my computer. I feel little giddy to be perfectly honest because a dear friend from church (love you Lorraine!) is watching Charlie so that I can steal away some time for myself. And I have to admit that this is the first time in a VERY long time that I've had a little pocket of time to simply BE. Not run to the gym or the grocery store without the little man, although doing those things alone is sometimes therapy enough.... but just this time to wander without an agenda feels almost naughty. And I have to laugh because my oh my how this season of life has changed me. Being a mom has changed me in so many ways because never in my life have I experienced such an ALL consuming change. I've seen my selfishness revealed, I've been humbled and I've been surrendered to what God's plan is for my life in a new way. I've been wrestling so much with how much of my time and energy should be devoted to photography and all kinds of variations on how that might play out during this season of life and there are no clear cut answers, but here is what I know.... I know that photography is a gift I've been blessed with and no matter what I will always seek to use this gift for a Greater glory than my own. I also know that becoming a mother has challenged my thoughts on what my balance of mothering/working looks like, and it's okay if the answer to this is unique to me alone. Now, goodness gracious I know I'm not the first lady to have a kid and then wonder what it looks like to run a business, but it's the first time I'VE done it!!! And on top of all that, I know that we will be moving again this summer to a still unknown location.... and so I wait for many unanswered questions that come along with that last variable.
With all that being said, this blog space may become something more personal and less business related as I journey. I've been challenged to be more transparent, which was something I was reluctant to do when business was my main focus. I've been blessed, inspired and moved by so many others whose transparency has come across my computer screen, so why am I so reluctant to perhaps allow my story and my daily life to do the same? My hope and prayer is simply that my ramblings, much like my photography, may somehow stir you too to seek the beauty that touches us on a daily basis.

** photo credit to the ever inspiring hero of mine Deb Schwedhelm, and yes, I might just be growing out my hair in the hopes of re-creating this image with her once Charlie is a few years older :)
