That's what good art does; it sneaks up on you and changes how you think, how you feel, and ultimately who you are." - Chris Orwig

Moving to Fayetteville has really opened my eyes to the sacrifices and realities of being a military spouse looks like. You would think that I would have absorbed this a little more since I've watched my brother and his incredible wife over the past 12 years, but I feel like I stand more and more in awe each day that I am here... living it, experiencing it myself. These families are incredible for what they give.
The last time I met Stacy was back in May. (Click here and find the gorgeous b/w baby!) She was on her own with a newborn and an energetic toddler... since her husband was deployed. So this session was different, it had such a joyful feeling, despite the somewhat dreary weather...because they are all back together again. One big beautiful family. Together.
your amazing!!!! :) these are awesome. what an adorable family!
(10.28.09 @ 09:21 AM)Lots of thought and prayer went into this little man's name, so I thought that it was appropriate to share the meaning. Ethan was welcomed into the world by an adoring (and perfectly adorable) set of parents and an older brother and sister which you saw here just a few short months ago. We didn't have very long, but I love these shots that we snagged of him because even though he is only a couple weeks old in these photos, he is showing off his full range of emotions/expressions. How could you not fall head over heels in love with a face like this?
"Are you feeling, feeling, feeling like I'm, feeling
Like I'm floating, floating, up above that big blue ocean
Sand beneath our feet, big blue sky above our heads,
No need to keep stressing from our everyday life on our minds
We have got to leave all that behind" - The Avett brothers
This morning Ross and I walked and walked and walked... we walked along the beach while perfect beams of warm yellow sunlight streamed through the still purplish clouds. We walked and talked about his sister, Lora's wedding and how exciting it is that she and Phil are starting their life together. We walked and talked about the morning after your wedding is one of those moments in life that you recognize is a huge milestone, but its next to impossible to fully take in just how much life is about to change. We walked and talked about how much we have grown, changed, challenged each other and knitted our lives together since that morning almost 2 years ago. The beauty of the morning seemed to match the gratitude in my heart.
We are excited to share in the journey with Lora and Phil, and I'm so proud to share a sample of images from their special day. More to come.
I just can't get over how special it must have been to have YOU take these PERFECT pictures. You are so talented. And they are so beautiful! as is the setting. Can't wait to see more and it is so fun to hear y'all reflect on your two years! :)

(10.26.09 @ 09:55 AM) My wife and I took our first vacation together after 37 years of marriage to Ocean Isle Beach to the
wedding of Phil and Lora. To get to be a part of the beginning of their journey together has to be one of the most rewarding things we have ever experienced. To get to spend time with the entire Free family on this most memorable occation will stay with us forever. Thanks to all for the memories.

(10.28.09 @ 12:14 PM)But anyways, back to last weekend. Part of our time was spent with dear friends Matt, KK and their pups. He is an insanely talented art director at BooneOakley, she is a brilliant freelance copywriter. They have a swoon-worthy house that shows off their fabulous sense of style. Let's just say that I'm one of their biggest fans and so thankful for this pair in my life.

how some momentary glimpse of beauty can be a mere whisper,
which memory will warehouse as a shout."
- CS Lewis
