Kids and family :: 04.05.11

We are planning a trip out to Missoula, MT to visit my brother, his wife and their 2 sweet girls... we are way overdue and I'm missing them like crazy. My mom is heading out there in a few days and I have to admit I'm a little jealous she will get so much good time with them! Until then, I'll just have to settle for old photos and a Skype date....

the changing faces of charlie boy.

With each new day he seems to be figuring out new expressions, and every single one of them brings my heart such great delight. My favorite is when he seems to surprise himself with a new coo or sound that he produces....

saturday stuff.

Next Saturday I'll be busy all day shooting a wedding, which I'm really excited about! But, this Saturday we will just be hanging out like this...

Kids and family :: 03.04.11

old friends and new life stages.

One of my oldest and dearest friends came to visit us and meet Charlie boy last weekend. She and her husband have 2 sweet girls as well so our house was full, and so was my heart. She and I have been the best of friends since middle school so we have walked through so many life stages together and I always tell her that when I'm with her... I feel like the truest version of myself. Over the years we have dreamed about what our future would hold and where our lives would take us. It's safe to say that we have both had our share of adventures, but this visit was consumed with our current stage of life - motherhood. Our time was filled with smiling babies, crying babies, changing diapers, bonding over loss of sleep, and walking with strollers. It's so sweet to be walking through this season at the same time!

You are a beautiful gift in my life dearest Virginia.

a mother's love.

"No language can express the power and beauty and heroism of a mother's love." -Edwin Chapin

I have heard that it is difficult to fully appreciate the selflessness of your own mother's love until you have a child and become a mother yourself... and now, yes, I wholeheartedly agree.

It's been such a treat to have my mom around, and appreciate her in a new way, but to also watch her take such great joy in our little boy. I thought it was worthy of some special photos of them.

For everything, thank you mom.

Parenthood also gives us such an amazing perspective of God's love for his Son and what it meant for Him to allow Jesus to be the payment for OUR transgressions. Wow!!
