Ross was sweet enough to help me drag one of our huge chairs outside into our backyard so that I could set up some stuff for another project that I'm working on. So once I was done, I really wanted to snag some shots of Bristol's sitting up there since every now and again she gets the privilege of claiming it as her throne. I can't help it, I love this pup.

"Some of the best things in life are impossible to define. Our attempts to demystify them fall short...And the meaning of the best photographs is almost always the most elusive. Sure we can theorize about composition, the rule of thirds, color theory, subject matter, but it all falls short. For the best photographs make us FEEL and THINK. They captivate and take our breath away....
That's what good art does; it sneaks up on you and changes how you think, how you feel, and ultimately who you are." - Chris Orwig

Ross, Bristol and I are headed up to the mountains this weekend and I'm pretty pumped about the whole situation... especially considering the forecast is calling for snow tomorrow. For a gal who has a love affair with jackets, vest, scarves and all things cozy, snow = giddy school-girl excitement. Yes, I might have even packed my pumpkin spice candle to burn while we are snuggled up on the couch. I'm doing a special shoot tomorrow morning that involves 2 of my favorite people and their 2 pups, so there is a lot for me to be excited about. Until then... we're off!
**thanks again to Sharon Clark for this photo since shots of Ross and I together are so few and far between!

Below are a few photos that I snagged over the past few days as I was on location for sessions and waiting for clients to arrive. I love being able to arrive a little early and take some time to just slow down, take in my surroundings and brainstorm about how to best use the location. On Friday morning I really got to thinking about how awesome it is that I get to go around to so many random locations (that I probably would never know existed if not for my job) and have the opportunity to enter into people's lives and their stories....I consider it such a privilege. From engagements to families and every stage in between, I have the opportunity to capture the most intimate moments, tender looks, and exciting life changes.
So all that being said, thank you to my clients and friends who allow me the opportunity to enter into YOUR lives and YOUR stories... it's always well worth the wait.

I LOVE the picture of the logs. I can totally see that as a picture hanging over a white brick fireplace. very pottery barn-ish!

The
essential joy of being with horses is that it brings us in contact with

From a very young age I have been captivated with horses and everything about them. I remember thinking, dreaming, hoping and praying about horses. Call me crazy. Something about their size and grace memorizes me still.

Look at how precious she is!!!
(11.02.09 @ 03:59 PM)what cracks me up about these.....is that I feel that with each picture you take, you become an even greater photographer.....and these pics show that somehow bristol knew it was her job to become an even great model! look at her strutting her stuff! i love it!
(11.03.09 @ 11:41 AM)You are a nut, but Bristol looks fairly regal in the bottom right photo......maybe this will drum up some pet photo shoots, entertaining for sure.
