Wedding/Engagement :: 11.30.09

Their beautiful whirlwind romance has been well documented here and here. Last weekend we all celebrated Lauren and Matt getting married and perhaps the greatest gift to me was that I was able to enjoy the wedding itself as just a guest while Sharon Clark stepped in and shot the intimate candle lit ceremony and dinner that followed...have I mentioned lately that I might just be Sharon's biggest fan of all time?! Anyways, we did play/shoot their gorgeous "first look" together, and these images make me so happy because I feel like they are truly a celebration of Lauren and Matt's love... and the beginning of their new life together. Sharon gets all the credit for the super adorable bubble gum concept :)

So let me introduce you to the brand spanking new Mr. and Mrs. Jackson!

Wedding/Engagement :: 11.27.09

ben + chrissy = married

The day had perfection written all over it...gorgeous warm light, blue skies, months and months and months of planning finally coming to fruition. I had the privilege of getting to know Chrissy since I shot their engagement session and her bridal session, so I felt like I could truly come alongside she and Ben in celebrating and capturing their day in a way that would make them proud. For me, shooting a wedding is such an intimate assignment because I am welcomed into the "inner circle" of the wedding day and its especially rewarding when I get to capture the love, tenderness, and vitality of a relationship like this one. It's was so beautifully clear how Ben and Chrissy are surrounded by friends and family who adore them as individuals and together. Plus, let's just be honest, Chrissy was such a stunning bride that my camera just naturally followed her every move! Sharon Clark shot with me and there were several moments when we could not help but just look at each other and squeal with glee at the gorgeousness we were capturing!

These are fantastic, Amy! The mirror shot is one of my favorites. And the black and white shot of the wedding party on the hill raising their glasses reminds me of a JFK photo. You have such a classic and timeless style and I love it.

Wedding/Engagement :: 11.11.09

becky + mike = engaged.

I love that Becky is a self-admitted slight control freak. Super organized. Super planner. She is always the one watching out for everyone else...taking care of her friends and family with a fierce loyalty that I admire in her.

And for all those reasons, and so many more, I love the fact that Mike managed to somehow surprise her with their engagement on their ROCKSTAR trip to Europe (seriously please click and read the story of their engagement!).

Mike adores Becky and everything about her. They are the perfect match in so many ways that it makes my heart hurt a little with sheer happiness for the life that they are going to build together. They balance each other, and that's what we all really need in our spouse, right? Someone to come alongside us... love us for exactly who we are, yet challenge us to also be the very best version of our self. Yup, I'd say that is what I have appreciated most so far in my vast 2 years of marriage :)

So here's to you Becky and Mike. I'm SO excited for you both. And as promised, I'm only sharing a tiny sliver of the photos to preserve the surprise of your Save the Date cards... but this is enough to show off your hotness together!

Wedding/Engagement :: 11.07.09

the best is yet to come.

Remember Lauren and Matt? She is one of my best friends and got engaged in front of my camera, here. I love to photograph this girl.

Well, yesterday I think its safe to say that we took it to a new level because Sharon Clark and I double teamed this bridal shoot!! I was exhausted afterward from jumping up and down with sheer delight throughout the whole session. Shooting alongside Sharon for this was especially fun since she and Lauren have known each other since waaaaay back in the day and I'm pretty much convinced that Lauren might be the luckiest girl in the world to have 2 friends to help her photograph/celebrate her bridal beauty. We ooohhh-ed and ahhhh-ed, squealed and laughed together. Now it's your turn.

Lauren, I love getting to celebrate this stage of life with you!

Wedding/Engagement :: 11.03.09

grace, stella and cj

I'm working feverishly to finish up several things on my oh-so-lovely to do list before I head out to Charlotte tomorrow for a whirlwind of sessions and a wedding on Saturday... and I just could not resist sharing a few more photos from Lora and Phil's wedding. Mostly because I'm pretty sure that our nieces, especially Stella (top left corner) were convinced that the wedding was just as much (if not more) for them than it was for Lora! They treated their responsibilities with the utmost respect. For example, Stella wanted to be 100% sure that she remembered to toss the flower petals as she walked down the aisle this time since she forgot to at our wedding, and then proceeded to stand at the front and throw a big clump of them at my grandmother, ha! Good news is that she did toss the petals this time and she looked quite like a princess while doing so. She also wore those pink foam curlers to sleep the night before the wedding and managed to keep them in until she got her hair done in the afternoon... yes, that means she wore them down to the beach to play before she got ready. Memories.

Now, I know that having kid participation in a wedding isn't something that everyone chooses, but it could not have been more perfect for Lora and Phil. I feel like these images really celebrate them, and for that reason they make me happy.
